Leaders of Little Traverse Bay Bands face another recall vote

The two top leaders of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians in Michigan are facing yet another recall.

Chairman Ken Harrington and Vice Chairman Dexter McNamara were the target of a recall last year. Harrington survived the May 2010 vote while McNamara successfully challenged the number of signatures on the recall petition.

This time around, it looks like Harrington and McNamara will both go to a vote on August 8. But McNamara is trying to block the election based on a provision in the constitution that allows only one recall attempt during a "calendar year."

The issue was raised in tribal court on Tuesday but Chief Judge JoAnne Gasco declined to rule on it, The Petoskey News reported.
