Dancers of the Plains powwow in Nebraska from June 17-18

The Dancers of the Plains powwow takes place in Kearney, Nebraska, from June 17-18.

The powwow will be held at the Great Platte River Road Archway. Over 250 representatives of the Pawnee Nation, the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and the Arikara Tribe are expected to attend.

The ancestors of the three tribes lived in the area before the Pawnee and the Otoe-Missouria were removed to Oklahoma. The Arikara, who are now a part of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation in North Dakota, are cousins to the Pawnee.
