Jury finds Eastern Cherokee man guilty for murder of woman





A member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend.

The jury convicted James Ernest Lespier, 32, for the death of Erien Amanda Smith, 22. Amanda was shot and killed at Lespier's home on the reservation.

Amanda was not a member of the tribe.
