Paiute Tribe hosts 31st annual federal restoration powwow

The Paiute Tribe of Utah hosts the 31st Anniversary Paiute Restoration Gathering this weekend.

The federal government terminated the tribe in 1954. Nearly half of the tribal membership died and the tribe lost 15,000 acres of reservation land before being restored to recognition in 1980.

The powwow kicks off today and continues through Saturday.
