Snoqualmie Tribe hires genealogist to audit membership roll

The Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington has hired a genealogist to review its membership records.

The audit is supposed to be complete in July, The Snoqualmie Valley Star reported. The ongoing review prompted the tribal council to postpone its election, something traditional Chief Jerry Enick said is illegal.

“I oversee what’s going on in my tribe. If I see something that’s going wrong, I attempt to take care of it,” Enick told the paper.

Most of the council members' terms expired on June 1, according to Enick. He has called a general meeting of tribal members this Saturday to remove those officials from office.
