New Mexico holding meetings on Navajo Nation water project

The New Mexico Office of the State Engineer is holding a series of public meeting to discuss a component of the Navajo Nation water rights settlement.
The settlement includes two pipelines to bring water from the San Juan River to thousands of users on and off the reservation.
State Engineer John D'Antonio said the project will cost about $1.3 billion, most of which will be funded by the federal government.
The first meeting takes place tonight at the Shiprock Chapter House on the Navajo Nation. Four more meetings will be held from Thursday through June 29.
