Navajo Nation aims to put ID card in hands of 300,048 members

The Navajo Nation aims to provide new identification cards to all of its members.

The tribe updated its membership count last week. Enrollment was put at 300,048 -- making the Navajos the single largest federally recognized tribe in the U.S.

The tribe is now in the final stages of developing an ID card that complies with new federal requirements. It could be in the hands of tribal members within 18 to 24 months, The Navajo Times reported.
