World Eskimo-Indian Olympics holds ceremonial event for games

The World Eskimo-Indian
Olympics kicked off with a ceremonial opening on Wednesday.
Billy Tegoseak was one of the original participants at the first games in 1961. He was presented with an ivory key by the WEIO Board of Governors during a ceremony at Griffin Park in Fairbanks.
“It’s a real dream to come back 50 years later,” said Tegoseak, 67, The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported.
The games begin today at the Carlson Center.
