Senate Indian Affairs Committee business meeting on Thursday





The Senate Indian Affairs Committee will host a business meeting tomorrow to consider five bills.

The meeting will take place at 2:15pm. It will be followed immediately by an oversight hearing into Indian gaming.

The bills on tomorrow's agenda are:
S.546, A bill to extend federal recognition to the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana. The committee held a hearing on the bill on April 14.
S.379, A bill to extend federal recognition to the Chickahominy Indian Tribe, the Chickahominy Indian Tribe-Eastern Division, the Upper Mattaponi Tribe, the Rappahannock Tribe, Inc., the Monacan Indian Nation, and the Nansemond Indian Tribe. The committee has not held a hearing on the bill.
S.1218, A bill to provide for the recognition of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. The committee has not held a hearing on the bill.
S.703, A bill to amend the Long-Term Leasing Act, otherwise known as the HEARTH Act. The committee held a hearing on the bill on April 14.
S.636, A bill to provide the Quileute Indian Tribe tsunami and flood protection. The committee held a hearing on the bill on April 14.
