Navajo woman chosen as vice chair of New Mexico commission

Theresa Becenti-Aguilar, a member of the Navajo Nation, has been elected vice chair of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.

Becenti-Aguilar replaces Jerome Block Jr., who is under investigation in the state. He hasn't shown up for meetings of the commission so the members ousted him and voted in Becenti-Aguilar yesterday.

Becenti-Aguilar was initially appointed to the commission by then-governor Bill Richardson (D). She eventually won election to represent District 4.
