Chickasaw Nation leaders to get big pay raises under new plan

The two top leaders of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma will receive a big boost in their salaries under a resolution that's being considered tomorrow.

Gov. Bill Anoatubby's annual salary will double, from $300,000 to $600,000, and so will Lt. Gov. Jefferson Keel's salary, from $200,000 to $400,000. Each also receives a bonus payment of $50,000 for every year in office.

Chickasaw Nation lawmakers will see a boost in their monthly payment, from $3,500 to $5,000, under the resolution, along with a 5 percent increase every year for every term in office. The tribe's Supreme Court judges are also due for a raise, from $3,000 a month to $4,000 a month.
