Pala Band disenrolls eight people, including former chairman

The Pala Band of Mission Indians of California removed eight people from the rolls, The North County Times reports.

The tribe said the eight people did not meet membership criteria. A person must have 1/16 Pala blood to be enrolled.

Among those disenrolled was King Freeman, a former chairman, and his son, Tony Freeman. The group failed to file an appeal, a tribal spokesperson said.
