The Samson Cree First Nation of Alberta plans to evict residents who have been convicted of serious criminal offenses.

Band leaders are upset with a growing wave of gang violence. Earlier this week, a 23-year-old woman was shot and killed -- she was the aunt of a six-year-old boy who was killed in a drive-by in July.

"If they can't respect themselves, respect the community, we, in turn, will show no respect," band council member Kirk Buffalo said at a press conference, CBC News reported.

Chelsea Yellowbird was at a house known for gang activity when she was killed on Monday.
