Sen. Reid supports Congressional Gold Medal for Elouise Cobell

A bill to award the Congressional Gold Medal to Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the Indian trust fund case, has gained a few more supporters.

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada), the Senate majority leader, is co-sponsoring S.1514. The bill now has seven supporters, all Democrats.

“Elouise Cobell’s hard work has immeasurably improved the lives of many American Indians, including thousands living in Nevada,” Reid said in a press release. “I’m honored to recommend her for the Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of her outstanding and enduring contributions and her tireless pursuit of justice.”
