Oglala Sioux Tribe reaches settlement to end telecom dispute

The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has reached a settlement with Alltlel.

The tribe and the company were battling it out in tribal court and federal court over sovereign immunity and jurisdiction issues. But both sides agreed to dismiss their lawsuits after Alltel agreed to pay $1 million and forgive past debts owed by customers on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Turtle Talk recently posted briefs from the case, Alltel v. Oglala Sioux Tribe.
