GOP Rick Perry's great-great-great grandfather was Choctaw

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry, the current governor of Texas, has Choctaw ancestry, according to Archives.com.

Perry's Indian ancestry comes from his mother's side of the family. His great-great-great grandfather Icy Abels was Choctaw, Archives.com said.

Assuming Abels was full-blood, Perry would be 1/32 Choctaw while his mother, Amelia June Holt, would be 1/16 Choctaw.

According to another website, Republican-candidates.org, Icy Abels was Mississippi Choctaw.
