White Mountain Apache chairman blesses Army helicopter

Ronnie Lupe, the chairman of the White Mountain Apache Tribe of Arizona, offered a blessing for the U.S. Army's newest helicopter.

Lupe, who served in the Korean War, gave a prayer for the AH-64D Longbow Apache Block III on Wednesday. The copter gets its name from the Apache people.

Lupe views the copter as "living bird that is sort of like the Apache warrior," his chief of staff told The Arizona Republic.

Lupe also offered the blessing for the original "A" model of the Apache helicopter in 1984.
