George Tiger wins election as new chief of Muscogee Nation





George Tiger won election as principal chief of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma.

According to the unofficial tally, Tiger defeated challenger Mike Flud by a vote of 2,942 to 2,177. The results are due to be certified this Friday.

“Muscogee Creek citizens wanted change and proved that yesterday by their decisions at the polls. I am humbly honored that they chose me to represent them as Principal Chief and I will do my best to represent the people of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation to the best of my ability,” Tiger said in a press release. ”I look forward to working with other newly elected officials in helping to provide jobs, better health care, and housing for the citizens of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. As Principal Chief, I will always make decisions which will benefit all Tribal members."

Tiger served on the Muscogee National Council for 14 years, including a term as speaker from 2006 to 2007.
