TransCanada to modify Keystone XL Pipeline Nebraska path

TransCanada agreed to modify the route of the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline in order to address environmental concerns in Nebraska.

The company will move the pipeline away from the Nebraska Sandhills and the Ogallala Aquifer. That addresses concerns about water used for drinking, farming and ranching.

TransCanada initially said it wouldn't change the route but agreed after lawmakers went into a special session to discuss the pipeline. A new environmental impact study will be conducted and the deal will give the state final say over the document.
