Navajo Nation chapter seeks payment for popular Shiprock fair

The Shiprock Chapter of the Navajo Nation says it is owed $80,000 from the organizers of the annual Shiprock Fair.

The popular event celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. According to the fair's interim director, it saw gross revenues of $267,000.

The Shiprock Chapter is supposed to receive 15 percent of gross revenues. But officials say they have yet to be paid.

Fair Board Chairman Russell Begaye is promising to pay. He said he expects the chapter will receive about $32,000.
