French government returns Maori ancestors to New Zealand

The French government returned the remains of 20 Maori ancestors to the New Zealand government in a private ceremony in Paris today.

The 20 heads were held by museums throughout France. A law passed in 2010 paved the way for their return back home, the Associated Press reports.

Once they are brought to New Zealand, the government there will work with Maori tribes to determine where they should go.
