First Nations in Saskatchewan see an increase in population

The population on reserves in Saskatchewan grew 16 percent over the last five years, according to the 2011 Census of Canada.

The on-reserve population in 2101 was 55,692, CBC News reported. That's up from 48,115 in 2006.

First Nations made an effort to increase participation in the census, after raising concerns about an undercount in 2006.
