Senate Indian Affairs Committee sets hearings, roundtable





The Senate Indian Affairs Committee is holding two hearings and a roundtable in the next to weeks.

This Thursday, the committee will host an oversight hearing on water rights settlements in Indian Country. A witness list hasn't been posted online.

Next Thursday, March 22, the committee holds a hearing on three bills. They are: S.1684, the Indian Tribal Energy Development and Self-Determination Act Amendments of 2011; S.1898, a bill to provide for the conveyance of certain property from the United States to the Maniilaq Association located in Kotzebue, Alaska; and H.R.1560, A bill to amend the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo and Alabama and Coushatta Indian Tribes of Texas Restoration Act to allow the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Tribe to determine blood quantum requirements for membership in that tribe.

The following Thursday, March 29, the committee will hold a roundtable on environmental protection.
