Pascua Yaqui Tribe starts work for $7.8M education center

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona has started construction on a $7.8 million education center with the help of a federally-backed program.

The tribe broke ground on Pascua Yaqui Education Center in December 2011 but still needed additional financing to move forward with the project. Wells Fargo came through with $2.4 million, provided as part of the New Markets Tax Credit program at the Department of Treasury.

The 40,000 square-foot facility will create 40 construction jobs and 60 permanent jobs. It's expected to open early next year.
