First Nations in Manitoba ask court to review RCMP contract (

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, the St. Theresa Point First Nation and the Pine Creek First Nation are seeking court review of a contract signed between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the province of Manitoba.

First Nations leaders say they weren't consulted during negotiations. The agreement affects RCMP stations on reserves throughout the province.

"We need to carve out a space for our participation in any agreements that impact service to our First Nation communities," AMC Grand Chief Derek Nepinak said at a press conference, CBC News reported.
