The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe of Colorado settled its trust mismanagement lawsuit with the federal government for $42.6 million. Chairman Gary Hayes took part in an announcement at the White House earlier this month. His tribe is one of 41 that reached settlements with the Obama administration for a total of $1.082 billion. "These settlements are fundamental to the government-to-government relationship between the United States and tribes," Hayes said at the White House. "These agreements mark a new beginning."
