Chippewa Cree Tribe opens doors to $12.5M justice facility

The Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana celebrated the opening of a $12.5 million justice center on the Rocky Boy's Reservation.

The 25,000 square-foot center houses the tribal jail and the tribal police. It replaces a much smaller detention facility that didn't have enough space for adult and juvenile inmates on the reservation.

The center includes classrooms where offenders can attend school and receive cultural support. The outdoor recreation yard will eventually house a sweat lodge.
