Crow Tribe turning to basketball to promote higher education

The Crow Tribe of Montana hopes that promoting basketball, one of the most popular activities on the reservation, will lead more students into higher education.

The tribe recently opened the $10 million Health & Wellness Center. It's being leased to the Little Big Horn College, which recently joined the National Junior College Athletic Association and has awarded $56,000 in scholarships to promising athletes.

"We've beaten Cree, Assiniboine, Cheyenne, Blackfeet and Lakota Sioux. It feels good to our community to win these games," Athalia Morrison, a tribal member who just graduated from LBHC, told The Wall Street Journal.
