Nez Perce Tribe sharing $34M trust settlement with membership

The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho is distributing a trust settlement with its members.

The tribe received nearly $34 million to settle claims of trust fund and trust asset mismanagement. After attorney's fees to the Native American Rights Fund, the tribe is sharing nearly $31 million on a per capita basis.

Each member will receive about $8,600, according to a letter on the tribal website. Those who returned applications by July 18 will start to receive their payment today.
