Nisqually Tribe reaches agreement for newly acquired trust site

The Nisqually Tribe of
Washington has reached an agreement with the city of Lakewood for a newly acquired parcel of trust land.
The tribe will pay $18,000 annually for police and fire services and $754 a year for collection of stormwater, The Tacoma News-Tribune reported.
The agreement includes a waiver of sovereign immunity.
The tribe plans to open a convenience store and gas station on the site.
The business is expected to generate $14.5 million a year.
