Saginaw Chippewa man convicted of assaulting three women





Waylon James Pego, a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, faces life in prison after being convicted in federal court of assaulting three women.

Pego, 28, was found guilty of three counts of unlawful imprisonment, two counts of aggravated sexual assault, three counts of domestic assault by a habitual offender, two counts of assault causing serious bodily injury, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to commit bodily injury, three counts of interfering with electronic communications and one count of witness tampering. His crimes occurred on the reservation between 2007 and 2012.

Pego will be sentenced February 28, 2013.
