Indian beneficiaries in South Dakota could see between $105 million and $115 million from the first round of the Cobell trust fund settlement, an attorney said.

Checks of $1,000 will be mailed after the $3.4 billion settlement is transferred to the court-approved bank. That's expected before the end of the month.

Nationwide, 350,000 Indian beneficiaries are slated to receive the $1,000 payment to settle historical accounting claims. A second round of payments, to cover trust administration, will come at a later date.
