Indian activists occupy worksite in protest of big dam in Brazil

Indian activists and their supporters occupied a work site at a massive dam under construction in Brazil.

The “Xingu Alive Forever” group includes members of different tribes, along with fishermen and other people opposed to the $10.6 billion Belo Monte Dam. They say the project will block and dry up rivers.

The Supreme Court in Brazil has allowed construction to resume amid complaints that tribes weren't consulted by Norte Energia, the consortium behind the dam.
