Narragansett Tribe is expecting to be without power for 'weeks'

The Narragansett Tribe in Rhode Island has been hard hit by Hurricane Sandy.

Power is out on the reservation, located near the coast. It could be weeks before electricity is restored.

“I’ve been told that it’s going to be weeks before we get power.  So our greatest need is to get generators so we can continue our government functions," police chief Jonathan Montey said on conference call hosted by the United South and Eastern Tribes.

The Indian Health Service clinic on the reservation remains closed but Montey said the agency is sending generators.
