Per cap payout from Ute Mountain Ute boosts local businesses

Members of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe of Colorado have been boosting the local economy thanks to a per capita payout.

Each member received about $19,000 in three payments. The money came from the tribe's $42.6 million trust fund settlement.

“They are reaching for the stars because they have extra money,” the general manager of an auto parts store told The Durango Herald.

Cars, all terrain vehicles and firearms were reported to be some of the most common purchases at local businesses.
