Program trains Navajo Nation students for cleanup of uranium

The first students are graduating from a program aimed at cleaning up uranium sites on the Navajo Nation.

About 20 students were selected for the three-week Superfund Job Training Initiative. They learned more about hazardous waste, emergency response, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and job skills.

The tribe has identified at least 683 uranium sites across the reservation.
