Editorial: Lumbee Tribe fills administrator post after 2 years

Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina finally fills administrator post after two years:
It took almost two years to the day, but the Lumbee Tribal Government finally has a tribal administrator.

The Lumbee Tribal Council last week, in a split vote, approved Tony Hunt as the tribe’s top administrator — the fourth time that Tribal Chairman Paul Brooks had made a nomination.

We don’t know much about Hunt except that he is a Hoke County educator and, as a county commissioner, a politician, a combination that is frequent in Robeson County. But Hunt came in saying all the right things, pledging that he was going to push to improve customer service and make sure that staff returns phone calls promptly.

There aren’t many days that go by that this newspaper does not receive a complaint about the Tribal Government’s service, and we will rank the most frequent.
