US Attorney continues review of Pine Ridge Reservation cases

The U.S. Attorney's Office in South Dakota continues to review dozens of case of unsolved deaths on and near the Pine Ridge Reservation.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson said his team has finished four of five cases. He told the Associated Press that he believes some of them should be closed.

“Some of the cases we reviewed, our conclusion has been consistent with the original case filing, the original case closing,” Johnson told the AP.

Members and leaders of the Oglala Sioux Tribe submitted about 60 cases for review, some dating back to the 1960s and 1970s. Johnson said his office is "taking a close look at each file."
