Native man admits making up story about police harassment

A Native man in Manitoba admits he wasn't forced to walk home by police officers but still says he was treated poorly in an incident over the weekend.

Jay Moosetail said officers searched him, pushed him against a police car and called him a "dirty Indian." He also says one of them mentioned the Idle No more movement, along with an expletive.

However, Moosetail told APTN that he was never driven to the edge of town and forced to walk home. He made up that claim and posted about it on Facebook because he was angry.

“I am really sorry I made that up. It never happened. I was just mad because of the way they treated me,” Moosetail told APTN. “They made me feel worthless.”

The Brandon Police Service said it has asked the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to investigate the incident.
