The Blackfeet Nation asked the U.S. Attorney in Montana to look into a driving case involving a council member who also serves as a state lawmaker, the Associated Press reports.

Sen. Shannon Augare (D) was seen driving erratically on the reservation. He was stopped by a county sheriff but allegedly drove away after bringing up his tribal member status.

"I asked them to review it and I haven't heard if they're going to do anything," Carl Pepion, the tribe's chief prosecutor, told the AP.

Federal authorities are now investigating. The FBI is looking for surveillance video from a bar where Augare was reportedly served alcohol.
