Hoopa Valley Tribe struck by over 100 fires since start of year

The Hoopa Valley Tribe of California has been hit by more than 100 fires since the start of the year and officials suspect arson.

This past Sunday alone, 17 fires burned on the reservation. That's in addition to more than 90 since January.

The largest fire destroyed part of the tribe's timber business earlier this month. The cost is still being determined.

"We are paying for that fire," Vice Chairman Byron Nelson Jr. told KIEM-TV.
