John Robinson, the ousted president of the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana, said he was wrongfully removed from office.

The tribal council voted 9-1 to remove Robinson after he fired an employee who had been accused of child abuse. But the vote took place when Robinson was out of the room -- he had to be rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy, KAJ News reported.

"In hearing this case, the council has demonstrated a great concern for tribal members' due process; yet, in their official action taken yesterday, they did not afford me my due process," Robinson said on Thursday.

Robinson said he will ask the council to reconsider when it meets on Monday.
