Cherokee Nation father into mediation with non-Indian couple

Cherokee Nation father Dusten Brown has entered into mediation with the non-Indian couple that wants to adopt his daughter.

Brown appeared in two courts on Friday -- state court and tribal court. The mediation agreement was filed under seal in state court, the Associated Press reported.

Brown has continued to maintain custody of his daughter even as Matt and Melanie Capobianco, the non-Indian couple from South Carolina, have pressured him to give up the girl.

Meanwhile, supporters of both sides held rallies over the weekend. An Indian-organized rally in Oklahoma City drew hundreds of participants, according to Standing Our Ground for Veronica Brown.

A joint rally in Tulsa was held for both Brown and the non-Indian couple.
