Column: It's time for Washington football team to drop mascot

Newspaper's sports editor calls for Washington professional football team to drop its mascot:
The NFL’s Washington franchise is under assault again because of its team nickname.

Media reports say a Native American tribe in New York has announced it will run a radio campaign pushing the team to stop call using “Redskins.”

Maybe it’s time for Washington and the NFL to give in on this issue. Changing a nickname really isn’t that big of a deal. The NBA’s Washington franchise wasn’t always known as the Wizards. They won an NBA championship as the Bullets in 1978.
