Letter: Take poll on Chumash Tribe's land-into-trust application

Letter writer wants county to conduct poll on a land-into-trust application submitted by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians:
I propose a poll or survey be conducted of local citizens with the simple question, “Are you for or against the Chumash removing the Camp 4 land from Santa Barbara County jurisdiction and adding it to their reservation?”

The Board of Supervisors should hear from all of us. One fact is unarguable — the tribe will do what is best for the tribe. The board should do what is best for the all county citizens.

Count me in the opposition.
