Two employees fired from Famous Dave's after powwow post

Photo was posted on Facebook during busy powwow weekend.

Two employees were fired from a Famous Dave's franchise in North Dakota for posting a complaint about Indian customers on Facebook.

A waitress at the Bismarck Famous Dave's was photographed by another employee with a sign that said customers during the annual United Tribes International Powwow were poor tippers. Both were let go before the end of the busy weekend after the post was quickly circulated on the Internet.

“Hopefully we can move on beyond this,” franchise owner Mike Wright told The Bismarck Tribune.

The powwow draws thousands of visitors to Bismarck every year. Some $2 million is spent just on hotels alone, the Bismarck-Mandan Convention and Visitors Bureau told the paper.

Famous Dave's was founded by Dave Anderson, a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Lake Superior Band of Ojibwe Indians. His first location was near his tribe's reservation.

The chain now boasts more than 180 locations in 37 states and in Canada.
