The Oneida Nation of New York is hosting a symposium on Monday to discuss efforts to eliminate the Washington professional football team's racist mascot.

The symposium takes place at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown in Washington, D.C. That's the same hotel where the NFL is hosting its fall meeting.

"The conference, which will be open to the press and the public, will be a chance for NFL officials, policymakers, and other concerned citizens to hear from federal legislators, community leaders and experts about the campaign," the tribe said in a press release.

The tribe launched its Change the Mascot campaign last month to put pressure on the team and the NFL to eliminate the mascot.
