Senate Indian Affairs Committee to hear three recognition bills





The Senate Indian Affairs Committee will take testimony on three federal recognition bills at a hearing next week.

The committee will consider S.1074, a bill to recognize six tribes in Virginia.

S.1132, a bill to recognize the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, is also on the agenda.

Finally, the committee will take testimony on S.161, a bill to recognize the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians in Montana.

The hearing takes place at 2:30pm in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building. A witness list hasn't been posted online.
