Hopi high school runners win 23 cross-country titles in a row

The high school on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona has won 23 state cross-country titles in a row.

The boys team at Hopi High has the longest consecutive winning streak in the entire U.S., the Associated Press reported. The team is just one of three schools in the country to earn a perfect score at a state meet, the coach said.

"We have a lot of pressure at every race,” junior Kelan Poleahla told the AP. “Everyone wants to beat us. Our job is to not let that happen."

The girls team has an impressive record too, with 21 championships. They are fifth in the nation for most state titles, the AP said.
