A public high school in California is debating whether to eliminate its "Apaches" mascot. Vallejo High School has used the Apache name and an image of an Indian man for decades. But the school district is recommending its removal. "What you're doing -- using native images and native names -- it's racist, it's demeaning," Karen Doris Wright, a resident, said at a public school board meeting on the issue, The Vallejo Times-Herald reported.
